As much as I love really digging into a beautiful painting, or holding a handcrafted mug in my hands, or reading a haunting poem, or savoring a really amazing dessert, I think I've always been even more fascinated by the process behind making it. I love seeing how the sausage gets made.
And I love seeing the space where someone creates. The little unique details that make a writer's desk their own. How a painter sets her space up to create. What kind of food a master chef cooks when he has a day off by himself. It can be an extremely vulnerable feeling to let someone into your space and your process and your inspirations and your dreams.
I want to know why they made it. And how. And what inspires them. And what scares them. And why the even choose to create in the first place. Or is it even a choice at all? These are what I want to know. But to be honest I'm not even positive what this series will end up being, but it's been something I've been excited to start on for a long long time.
Tomorrow I'll be posting my first such study and man is it a good one to start with! Until then, here's a sneak peek at what I've been working on.
